Are second chances possible in a world plagued with devastating loss, difficult obstacles and everyday commitments?
Having a very genuine understanding of death and grief, Ireland O’Brien has been able to put aside her anger and move forward with a career of helping orphaned children – making their lives better, even though she’s kept her own pain deeply buried within her heart.
Architectural engineer J. Bentley Roberts has also experienced his fair share of heartache. Nearly two decades ago, he suffered the loss of his role model and high school sweetheart in the same tragic accident. And, more recently, Bentley said goodbye to his marriage – leaving him to not only dust himself off, but also to help pick up his teenage son in the unsettling process.
As both of their best friends get ready to say their “I dos,” Ireland and Bentley find themselves together again after twenty years apart.
Will they be able to fight their past demons to finally find the love that’s always entwined them?
I’ve always loved a good second chance romance and a
friends-to-lovers story, so this was just perfect for me. I haven’t reading anything from MC Decker
before and I can’t say enough how much I liked this book.
Ireland and Bentley grew up together and were the best of
friends and sweethearts, until tragedy struck and she had to move away. Twenty years later, Ireland and Bentley come
face to face as each of their best friends are marrying. From that first look, they are hooked and all
of those memories come rushing back.
The more they start seeing each other, the more I was
smiling at this story. I was mesmerized
by their deep connection and every time he called her “Shamrock” I fell for him
even more. Their story is so touching
and very sweet, and their attraction is hot and sexy.
Just when you think things are going along pretty smooth for
them, they are faced with yet another roadblock for them. When Bentley is faced with some unexpected
trauma, Ireland begins to wonder if they will ever get the happy ending they so
deserve. I must admit I was a little
anxious, not knowing if they would find their way back to each other. My heart really broke for Ireland and what
this poor woman was put through.
As they say, love conquers all and we get just what we
needed by the end of this book. The
ending was so adorable and I was so happy with how perfect it was. This book will
draw you in from that first chapter.
Ireland is one broken woman and Bentley seems to be the missing piece
she has needed to make her life complete again. It’s a beautiful story between two adorable
characters that I really enjoyed in this 4 star book. If you love a second chance romance between
two people who deserve a happy ending, then this is one to read.
