Sometimes it’s the
hero who ends up needing a lifeline…
Jack Jarvis York is a ruthless and vindictive oil tycoon who knows no
boundaries when he’s been double-crossed. Debtors beware. He’ll slit your
throat for a nickel. And make no mistake, he will collect.
You never screw with a man’s pride, money, or oil. It’s Texas Law. Unwritten,
yet gospel. They don’t call him the king of Texas for nothing.
When a debtor can’t come up with his money, JJ takes his wife as collateral...
What starts out as a trade-off between bitter men turns into an emotional
collision of desire and forbidden love so dangerous, it threatens to destroy
even the strongest of empires.
No amount of money will ever rebuild everything that’s been shattered. Jack is
left standing in the middle of his own chaos.
Greed and power are the least of his worries now. Death is knocking on his
front door, wanting to collect.
The woman he’s given his heart to just might become his collateral this time
around. Past sins may trump everything...

Whiskey and You made me feel
so many emotions while reading this book. It’s a raw and gritty story with
quite a few surprises and not for the weak at heart. It grabbed my attention with the sexy and
powerful Jack Jarvis York. He’s ruthless and other men fear him, and with good
reason.
JJ hasn’t had an easy life.
He was raised by his mom and they moved from hotel to hotel trying to survive until
finally meeting his best friend for life, Kemp.
They rule the area and when someone owes JJ money, they pay or they
suffer the consequences. Coming across a
real loser, who trades his wife for his debt, JJ has no idea what is in store
for either of them.
Navy is a trophy wife who has
been beaten down in every way possible. When her sorry excuse for a husband
trades her for his debt, she feels even more hopeless. Little does she know
that getting traded is the best thing that will ever happen to her.
JJ soon finds out how broken
Navy is and together, they find out they are similar in so many ways. Both of their stories will make you feel for
them and so many times, I couldn’t believe what each of them had been
through. I love Faye, who works for JJ,
and she ends up bringing Navy out of her shell.
She is such a sweetheart.
Everyone needs someone like her.
I love JJ and Kemp’s friendship.
Even though they aren’t blood related, they are true brothers.
This book is a roller coaster
of emotions and my heart broke for both of them. I loved to see Navy open her heart and soul
to JJ and know she wanted to be a better person. JJ’s heart transforms from a cold-hearted SOB
to someone he feels he can give his heart to.
HJ has really impressed me with this book and her books keep getting
better and better. After reading the
last chapter, I cannot wait for Kemp’s book!
