Synopsis:
He was the myth and the legend of our small town. But no one knew the truth... except me.
Me
My childhood was stolen by a monster. I’ve forgotten what love feels like. What happiness feels like. What hope feels like. I am numb.
Him
He’s possibly as damaged as I am. Maybe even more. Scarred just as much on the inside as the outside. Just like me. He doesn’t speak. He doesn’t smile. He hides in the woods like an animal. I should be scared of him. But I’m not. He’s the only one that has ever made me feel. And I want to make him feel, too. everything...
Tied is the second book in
the Devils Wolves series and it can be read as a standalone, but you get a peek
at Tyler in Torn, the first book. Where
Torn was more of a taboo, no-no kind of book (that I loved, too), Tied is more
about two people who have been through hell and are trying to put their lives
back together one day at a time. They
are so broken but seem to be the piece that the other needs to heal.
We saw a sneak peek of Tyler
in the first book where you see his mysterious side, and I wondered why he lives
in the woods. Tyler is a complex, but
yet simple character. He’s been burned
by a fire and had crashed his motorcycle into a house, which made him lose some
of his voice along with so many cuts, but yet he is humble. He lives in isolation because the town knows
who he is, but he seems to enjoy that.
He likes the simple things in life and doesn’t need all the frills. But when he saves Holly from her torturer and
becomes a hero, he feels a connection to her unlike anyone else.
Poor Holly has been rescued
from a hole in the ground by Tyler. She
had been kidnapped ten years ago and has been raped and tortured. It amazes me that this girl is able to turn
her life around, but not from the help of her parents. They just toss her in therapy and leave her
there. She feels like a guest in her old
home; she doesn’t even have her old room.
It’s for the ‘new’ daughter, her younger sister, as she says.
As Tyler and Holly are
together more and more because when she was found, he saved her dog, they have
this unique connection. It’s so new for
them both, and I love how this wasn’t an insta-love. They work up slowly to a friendship and get
to know one another. Tyler is amazing in
so many ways!!! He knows to take it slow
and not force Holly to do anything or she will retreat into her shell.
“We can’t escape this. No matter what, this is us. We’re tied together by this awful course of
events, unknowingly walking the same path.”
When Holly has a chance to
move to New York with her brother and his girlfriend, I didn’t know what to
think. All she wanted was for Tyler to
ask her to stay, but he didn’t. When he
realizes he is about to lose the love of his life and soul mate, he knows
he can’t let her go. I was blown away
with how he told her he wanted her. That
was different and made it such a tender moment.
Tyler is a beautiful man!
“She’s everything. My past.
My present. My future. My twin flame-the one who shares the path of
my soul.” - Tyler
I enjoyed getting a touch of the rest of the family and cannot wait to read more of these characters. I love how Carian brought out so many
emotions, and I teared up a couple of times because it was so heartbreaking but
so tender and beautiful. The characters
are easy to love, and you can feel how they balance each other out in so many
ways. Being that Holly kept all of her
fairytale books and believed in a prince, she really found him in Tyler. He is no longer the town freak and she isn't the girl in the hole anymore. They
are true soul mates in every sense of the word and, as with the first book,
it’s another 5 star read!

About the Author:
I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts.
My first novel in the best-selling Ashes & Embers series, Storm, published in September of 2014. I have many books and sequels slated for this series. My new spin-off series, Devils Wolves, launched in 2016 with the best-selling novel, Torn. There are several books planned for this series as well.
Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
