Rewriting Destiny

When life gives you lemons, it’s time for shots of tequila.
That’s my new saying in life, and trust me, life has handed me lots of lemons.
My name is Danielle DeChenne, and for eighteen years I took every punch “destiny” threw at me. Now I’m no longer a naive girl. Traumatic abuse will do that to you. I was forced to grow up too fast, and the one person I depended on—that gorgeous Marine, Zane—turned his back on me. So now I say screw the lemonade and just give me a bottle of Jack Daniel’s, because I don’t believe in destiny anymore.
There is no pre-destined path set out for each of us. That crap doesn’t exist.
Sometimes bad things happen…it’s just how the world works. It sucks, but you have to pick yourself up and get on with your life. Even if it’s an impossible task.
I’m done sitting around and waiting for my life to change or something good to fall in my lap. It took me awhile to understand, but once I stopped being the doormat for destiny, it was time for me to take control. Now I decide where I go in life and what will happen. It won’t always be pretty, it will sometimes hurt like hell, but I will make sure I live my life to the fullest…
Then the gorgeous Marine from my past returned with a vengeance—except this time, I was ready for him.
It's time to rewrite destiny.
This is the first book I have read by Shelly and I am really impressed. Danielle is definitely rewriting her own destiny after she has endured so much heartache. Her mom died, her dad left, and her grandmother took her in. Zane is the boy next door who has become her closest friend. As they grow up, they find themselves having different kinds of feelings other than frienship.
When Danielle's life is drastically changed in more ways than one, Zane is the one person she thought who would never let her down. Believe me, I was furious with Zane myself. But he had his own secrets. Secrets that could destroy Danielle's world even more. Danielle does the only thing she knows to do and that's start over.
Little did she expect in her new life to run across Zane again. But she is not the girl he remembers. She is one tough, badass woman who doesn't let anyone walk on her. I really love seeing the change in her and how much she has really matured. She can take care of herself on her own and that's one thing I admired about her. She didn't let tragedy stop her and she kept right on going. She wasn't the only one who had changed. Zane has grown up to be one hot and sexy biker that I just loved.
Zane and Danielle still have an amazing chemistry that is definitely HOT. She sure didn't make it easy for him once he saw her again but it was well deserved. The men of the MC were so good to Dani and protected her in every way. I was glad to find out all of his secrets and see them open up to each other. They ended up being so perfect for each other and got their much needed happiness to be able to move on.
