Title: Bad Apple
Series: The Uncertain Saints MC
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: MC Romance
The road to hell is paved with good intentions… Apple “Core” Drew needs The Uncertain Saints MC like he needs air. He is barely making it through the day, and each one that goes by takes him closer and closer to hell. Literally, not figuratively. He’s a half breath away from killing himself—maybe not by taking his own life, but he’s not against making someone else do it for him. Then he meets her. One of his club member’s sister, and his whole outlook on life changes. And not for the better. Just as surely as he ruined his life, he ruins her life, too. One lapse in judgement on his part, and his one night of happiness turns into the worst nine months of his life. Which he would’ve thought was damn near impossible with the things he’s done and seen. She never saw it coming… It was the beard. The beard made her do it. That is a good excuse for having sex with a man she barely knows, isn’t it? Yeah, who was she kidding? It wasn’t the beard. It was the way he looked so dejected and solemn. The sad look in his eyes pulls her in, and the way his rough hands touch her makes her stay. All she wants to do is take that look out of his eyes, but the consequences to her actions only make things worse, not better. One day is all she gets, and he’s not willing to give her more. Until she dies, that is. Then it’s too late.
Bad Apple is the fourth book in the Uncertain Saints MC series, and it’s another hit for me. The depth of this story pulled me in and even though my heart just broke for the characters, once the book was over, I was so glad to see them work through their struggles. This book is a little darker than the previous books, but it’s one I really enjoyed.
Apple ‘Core’ Drew is the newest member of the club and has been fighting his demons for years. He has been suffering through so much guilt for years and is barely surviving. He’s basically just existing, not living, or enjoying life. Until Kitt.
It seems Kitt is the one who makes him want to finally seek the help he needs and begin to live life again.
Kitt is Ridley’s sister, who we have met before. She lives with him and they have the best relationship. Kitt suffers from seizures and Ridley is always there for her. No matter what she has to go through, he supports her, and with Core? He’s more supportive than ever.
After seeing Core, she knows she wants him, but she has no idea how much the poor guy has been through and once Core thinks she knows, he does the only thing he knows to do. He pushes her away, but Kitt is one persistent girl and won’t let go. It turns out that’s what he needs.
I really enjoyed Kitt and Ridley’s relationship. Ridley has always been mysterious because we know he won’t give up his dead wife. He’s never moved on, but with Kitt living with him, it’s what they each need to support the other. Kitt certainly doesn’t make life easy on him or Core.
Core and Kitt’s relationship isn’t without flaws, heartache, or tragedy but together they balance each other out. They are just what each other need to survive in the world. Core’s history will tug at your heart and you really pull for him to find his happiness. It wasn’t easy in any way and I would have never guessed this would have been what he was dealing with. It’s a deep and dark subject and was brought out so well in this book. Core and Kitt are amazing together, once they get their act together, and their chemistry is so hot!
This book is written well and easy to understand. I didn’t want to put this book down and was drawn in from beginning to end. After getting more of Ridley in this 4 star book, I am impatiently waiting for his book.
