Mig’s wife is a bitch.
How else do you describe a woman that lies, cheats and steals to get what she wants?
That’s exactly what happens when she traps him into a marriage he wants nothing to do with, saddling him with a kid that he knows doesn’t deserve to be in a world like his.
He’s doing a pretty bang-up job at ignoring everything but his responsibilities as a DEA officer and a member of The Uncertain Saints MC.
Then his neighbor knocks on his door, and everything he thought he knew is blown out the window.
Annie teaches Mig that not every woman is out to get him.
Her love for Mig stretches past what’s appropriate for two friends, and Annie soon straddles that invisible boundary between appropriate and inappropriate.
Annie’s not a cheater, though.
When she tries to say goodbye, Mig won’t let her leave, and soon the tiny town of Uncertain blows up with the news of Annie and Mig’s innocent friendship.
Matters of the heart are foreign to Mig, and it takes Annie being gutted for him to see the wrong he’s done.
He waits too long, though, and Annie’s heart is broken.
She wants it all, or she wants nothing. She can’t take anymore half-hearted attempts at being just friends.
The heart wants what it wants, and it doesn’t take long for Mig to realize that.
But just when Mig finally has it all in the palm of his hand, his life is ripped to shreds by a new player in the game, and it takes all of Annie’s love and devotion, as well as help from the men of The Uncertain Saint’s MC, to put Mig back together again.
Jack and Coke is the second book in the Uncertain Saint’s MC series and even though it is a standalone, I did read book one Whiskey Neat before starting this book. I always like to get an idea of the characters even when there are different characters in each book.
I was so curious about Mig in book one and even though he is a biker, he’s also a DEA agent with one hell of a personal life. I definitely wasn’t expecting the circumstances around his bitch of a wife. It seems he found himself married and with a baby on the way but he was one unhappy man, but who can blame him with that insane woman?
Annie is Mig’s neighbor and from the time they became neighbors, they knew they had this connection. But Annie knew Mig was off limits and Mig knew he had responsibilities to his wife and child. That is one thing I really loved about Mig is that he didn’t cheat. No matter how drawn he was to Annie, he never let himself go there and I think I fell for him for that alone. Add into the fact that he is one hot and sexy man with such a good heart and I was drawn into his story.
“You’ve been my woman since you moved in next door. I may have been married…as well as you, but my heart was yours from the moment you dropped your end of the couch.”
Mig’s relationship with this father is another thing that blew my mind. His dad was one cruel man while raising Mig but it seemed to work out because in the end what his dad had done saved Mig’s life, too.
When Mig finds out his wife has secrets and gets the answers he needs, it not only endangers himself but Annie, too. Mig feels like she doesn’t belong in his world because he can’t keep her safe from his dangerous life. But, Annie will not stand for it. She’s sassy and knows what she wants and that’s Mig. She won’t let him get away that easy. Throw in her crazy ex who puts her in danger and you have one heck of another twist added in, too.
“I have enemies. I make new enemies every day. But as much as I love you, I’ll never expose you to the ugliness of my world. It doesn’t matter how much you beg me. There’ll never be any time that I’ll ever be right for you.”
All of the twists and turns in this book kept me drawn into their story and so many times I wanted to knock off the wife so Mig and Annie could have their happy ending they so deserved. They balanced each other so well and couldn’t have been more perfect for each other. I enjoyed all of the characters of this book and once I started it, I didn’t want it to end. I definitely want more of these guys and I give Mig and Annie’s story 4 stars.
